Perfectly Imperfect
Perfectly Imperfect was filmed in Lorna Crane's old studio in 2020 and is now available as an on-demand course with Fibre Arts Take Two.
The course invites artists into a supportive community where they can discover new ways of thinking and working, develop their own visual language, and move at their own pace.
Across the alumni exhibitions, Lorna frames imperfection as a generative force: a way to play, take bold steps, confront doubt and make work from a more personal place.

Delving Deeper Into Our Visual Language
Participants were invited to delve deeper into their own visual language and take time with the exploratory work that emerged from the course.
For some, this was a first experience of exhibiting. For others, it was a first venture into fibre art. The shared thread was a desire to work in their own way, at their own pace, toward a more individual voice.
The course opened questions of confidence, courage and trust in process: the leap of faith that arrives when experimentation makes something in the work switch on.
With gratitude to the Fibre Arts Take Two team, especially Angela Truscott and Ursula Beeston, for helping bring the exhibition and book to life.

Infinite Possibilities - Student Exhibition 2022
This engaging group embraced the spirit of Perfectly Imperfect with a willingness to experiment, explore their arts practice and work from a fresh and open approach.
The journey was based around time and place, with connections to surrounding landscape and environment becoming moments of clarity at a deep and personal level.
Confidence and courage echoed through a "why not" and "what if" approach: breaking rules, embracing imperfections and revealing the unique qualities of each artist's investigative process.
With gratitude to Fibre Arts Take Two, especially Angela Truscott, Ursula Beeston and Tara Axford, for bringing fibre arts alive in a fresh, inspiring and stimulating way.

Breaking Barriers - Student Exhibition 2023
The 2023 group embraced the course with a willingness to question, experiment and explore fresh ways of working.
The process began with Lorna sharing her journey as an artist: recalling places that touched the soul, memory mapping, and the essence of time and place.
Participants worked from connections to environment and surrounding landscape, turning mark making and narrative into bold, heartfelt moments of discovery.
Breaking barriers became a cornerstone for the group: letting go of fixed expectations, getting out of the comfort zone and moving forward with passion and belief.
With gratitude to the highly professional team at Fibre Arts Take Two.
