Co-Laboratively Speaking

Following on from the Frag Folder and the Knee(jerk) Fragmentation Project with concept by San Francisco based artist Carl Heyward it was decided that we would continue working in a collaborative exchange. I sent Carl fragments of my work in various sizes for Carl to work with and visa versa. These images are a response to the Heyward fragments.  This is the beginning of what Carl has named our co-lab as the Zimbabwe Two-Step.

The Frag Folder

KNEE (jerk) fragmentation PROJECT (mail art) > from a concept by San Francisco based artist Carl Heyward

These are some of my mixed media collages offered in the spirit of the original social network (with US MAIL)… These come from a series of 19″ x 24″ works that have been cut into roughly 25-30 individual cards (on cold press paper) distributed to artists responding to this invitation.

Fragmented works have been sent to San Francisco artist Carl Heyward where he then forwards back an original frag (3.5 x 5 or so) till they are gone. Participating artists will reciprocate with original mail art fragment of their own design.
The project will be then documented in a catalogue format later in 2012 – mailing details below.

Return to The Hill

We will be back in Broken Hill this week to hang the show and be in attendance at the opening next Friday evening at 6pm.

It will be exciting to return to The Hill and show our work at the Broken Hill Mining and Minerals Museum and reconnect with friends and see the amazing landscape west of the Darling River.

Some small works

SOLD

Some small works finished last week are now at Essential Object in Tathra. These are acrylic on canvas and measure 10″ high x 8″ wide. They sit quite comfortably next to the large work ‘nothingness’ (1.5 metres high x 1.2 metres wide) in the gallery. This photo was taken by Poppy Benton from Essential Object.
